Train Freight

Train freight is a type of freight that is transported by rail. It is often used for large shipments that are too large to be carried by trucks or planes, or when the destination is one that cannot be easily reached by road. All freight trains have a number of cars, which can range from two to more than twenty, depending on the size and weight of what's being shipped. The cars are loaded with cargo and then coupled together, with each car having its own coupler—a device that allows one freight car to be connected to another. The coupling is completed when the couplers on both ends of each car align properly, forming an airtight seal between them. The train will then pull out onto the rail yard where it will wait until it's time for departure. At this point, the brakeman will check all connections before releasing air pressure from the brake system and letting go of the brakes in all cars except one (known as the "end-of-train" signal). This last car stays locked in place until it reaches its destination; once there, it unlocks itself so workers can unload its contents and restock it before returning home again."
